Hi Phil, I managed to back myself into a debate after all and am agonizing over it. Pat Michaels wants to go after the historical context ie a ice free arctic not being unusual. should I just fall ill? do you know about ice free arctic in paleoclimatic context? do we have arctic proxies? Gabi

It reminds me of when Pope Jean Paul II was going to visit his native Poland the Communist leadership was in a tizzy. One of the suggestions from Moscow was that the leadership, the entire leadership, fein illness so they would not have to meet with him.
Even they thought it was too stupid a suggestion to consider.
