Could Climate Change create deadly, mutant sharks which kill us all? – Telegraph Blogs

Obviously these made up figures are just projections, but given the potentially catastrophic outcome for all mankind I think we can all agree they should not be taken lightly and should be used as the basis for an extensive research programme, a massive pay rise for Professor Phil Jones and a new world tour from the Prince of Wales and his entourage in their biofuel powered eco-jet, warning: "When I said the other day we had just 100 months to save the world, I was pretty much right. It's now looking like 84 months, except its killer mutant sharks which will probably get us not global warming."

Der Spiegel: The “Ground Zero Of Climate Change” Is Becoming Green – Expanding Sahara Is A Myth

Der Spiegel above brings a report on the Sahel Region of Africa, interviewing Dutch geographer Chris Reij of the University of Amsterdam. Reij says the opposite is occurring: the Sahara is shrinking. It is not expanding.

Reij has been visiting and documenting “the greening of the Sahel Zone” for decades.

I can't prove or show anything because I cannot find the crucial assumptions. But I do have a feeling in my water that if we were to rerun these calculations with reasonable assumptions, like, say, that we've as much if not more natural gas than the US does, then we might find that renewables really aren't an option that anyone would go for. Which, if I were cynical enough, might be why that calculation isn't presented to us.

If carbon dioxide isn’t a worry, nitrous oxide could not possibly offer any threat... right? - Telegraph

As we all know, climate change is a conspiracy cooked up by charlatans - but
if it weren't, we should be worrying about nitrogen, writes Steve Jones.

It's hard not to recall Monbiot's fulminations about libertarian astroturfing, an argument he advanced while helping to run the Campaign Against Climate Change - an astroturfing organisation.

He's some guy, that Monbiot.

It’s That Monbiot Again… » Climate Resistance

We see Monbiot here claiming to be an optimist and to have a positive view of human nature. He’s only kidding himself. The Met Orifice and perhaps others have learned their lesson: nature will not obey forecasts. Monbiot, if he’s learned that lesson, still has to remember that he cannot un-write the past. It’s still all there, in black and white, and available to anyone capable of reading. It was Monbiot and co who politicised weather forecasting. He was the one foretelling doom, and saying that we must urgently prepare ourselves for The End. He was the one crying ‘fools’ at those who did not believe him, and claiming that the non-believers had been brainwashed by evil, mind-controlling forces. He was the one making weather — and weather forecasts — the centre of his moral and political argument. He can’t now pretend that it’s the ‘rightwing press’ who are ‘politicising’ weather forecasts by not politicising it.
