Many people (Don Easterbrook and Joe Bastardi for example) have mentioned before that the PDO shift in 1977 coinciding with the warming climate. With that in mind, I decided to break down the US temperature record from 1977. What you find is that a lot of warming occurred in the 1980s but its hard to spot it since aside from the so-called “super El Nino” of 1998.
