- Bishop Hill blog - Gleick confesses
I have to say I don't know whether to be more stunned by Gleick's foolishness or the blogosphere's ability to deduce that it was him what dunnit.
Activist Says Heartland Climate Papers Obtained by Deceit - NYTimes.com
Dr. Gleick distributed the documents to several well-known bloggers and activists who support the work of mainstream climate scientists and who have denounced the Heartland Institute as a center of climate change denial. The document release, which lit up the Internet last week, was cast by some bloggers as the work of a whistle-blowing Heartland employee or ex-employee who had access to internal papers, when it was in fact orchestrated by Dr. Gleick, a Yale- and Berkeley-trained scientist and environmental activist who says that he was frustrated with Heartland’s anti-climate-change programs.
Dr. Gleick denied authorship of the most explosive of the documents...As a founder and president of the Pacific Institute, based in Oakland, Dr. Gleick, 55, has been a prominent figure in researching and making publicly available information on the regional consequences of global warming in California, the nation and the world. He received a MacArthur “genius” grant in 2003.
Peter Gleick Admits to Stealing Heartland Documents - Forbes
Heartland strikes me as moronic to be insisting on criminal charges for Gleick.
...while all scientists (and all people) make mistakes, good ones acknowledge their mistakes, correct them, and refine our knowledge. Bad ones dig in their heels, defending a faulty paradigm to the bitter end.
The Reference Frame: Peter Gleick: AGW warrior who stole identity
Peter Gleick, a self-described co-founder and president of the Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment, and Security in Oakland, California, is a hardcore climate fearmonger.
This blog has emphasized for years that he is an example of the Nazi-driven jerks without a glimpse of morality for whom the ends – the destruction of the human civilization in a foreseeable future – always justify the means – namely the destruction of the human civilization and people today. For years, some people could have doubted the accuracy of this description. It's no longer the case.
