It also uses phrases, language and, in many cases, whole sentences that were taken directly from Heartland’s own material. Only someone who had previous access to all of that material could have prepared the Climate Strategy in its current form.
In all the circumstances – taking into account Peter Gleick’s explanation of the origin of the Heartland documents, and in direct contradiction of Heartland’s stated position – DeSmogBlog has concluded that the Climate Strategy memo is authentic.

It never occurs to them that Gleick could easily have lifted a few sentences from the documents he committed wire fraud to obtain and place said sentences in his fake document along with some fabricated BS in his own voice.
They evaluate climate science this same way, you know. In their brains, the temperature has risen slightly and so has CO2, therefore CO2 made the temperature rise. It couldn't possibly be the other way around, because man creates CO2 and man is bad. End of debate. Science settled. Okay, so why do we have to keep giving you climate scientists billions to never question your own work or your friends'? What exactly do you do besides write proposals for grants to give you more money to write proposals for grants or letters of recommendation for your buddies to get fellowships?
