The new anti-science assault on US schools | Katherine Stewart | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk

In a disturbing trend, anti-evolution campaigners are combining with climate change deniers to undermine public education
...
If you can't shut down the science, the new science-deniers appear to be saying, you should shut down the schools. It would be a shame if they succeeded in replacing the teaching of science with indoctrination.

NASA : Lying About The Past | Real Science

There is an incredible amount of misinformation in this video. The first problem is that it starts in 1884, not 1880. But the real problem is that much of their land data is not from any known source.

I overlaid the land coverage of GISS 1884 (green below) on the animation frame from 1884. Note the great detail in the animation over Africa, South America, and central Asia – where they had no data. In Antarctica they had no data at all, yet drew in a tremendous amount of completely fraudulent detail! The first land based exploration of Antarctica didn’t even occur until 1892. Outside of Australia, they only had three or four land based thermometers in the entire southern hemisphere.

What Is Hansen’s Excuse Now? | Real Science

Last year Hansen blamed the cold on La Nina and low solar activity. ENSO is neutral now and we are at solar max.

500-Year Storm of Scientific Illiteracy |

In terms of “500-year floods,” these began to be talked about in the media in the 1990s, especially during the 1997 Mississippi flood. In my book, I present a list of catastrophic Mississippi floods:

1718, 1735, 1770, 1782, 1785, 1791, 1796, 1799, 1809, 1811, 1813, 1815, 1816, 1823, 1824, 1828, 1844, 1849, 1850, 1851, 1858, 1859, 1892, 1893, 1907, 1908, 1912, 1913, 1916, 1920, 1922, 1923, 1927, 1929, 1932, 1936, 1937, 1945, 1950, 1957, 1958, 1965, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1979, 1983, 1984, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2008.

There are likely floods that didn’t make it onto the list, particularly from the 18th century. Either way, mammoth floods were surely taking place before humanity was there to record them, and as I show in the book are nothing new. At all. What’s new about them is what an effective weapon they are in the AGW alarmists’ arsenal. The rhetorical weapon’s message is this: “You are wrong for burning fossil fuel, because its use causes floods. If you continue to do so you may drown, personally, or cause someone else to drown.”
