Climate Common Sense: Climate change increases number of economic morons in Canberra!

Pensioners on the breadline and people on the surgery wait-list for years will be delighted in some of the projects funded by the 300 million tax-payer dollars being doled out by the Australian Research Council. Studying the role of emotion and morality in climate change (scam) messages obviously trumps assisting old people with outrageous electricity bills. Researching how non-existent global warming is affecting the size of birds and is more important than a knee replacement operation to remove chronic pain. While Labor is borrowing 100 million dollars every week it is good to see only economically vital projects like  "William Blake in the Twentieth Century" and 16th century Florentine economics are getting taxpayer grants. As global warming causes everything I would like to suggest  a research project into how climate change is increasing the number of Labor economic morons in Canberra

...That is why I think that we have precisely 33 years of reasonably reliable global temperature data, not in terms of accuracy (which is unknown and perhaps unknowable) but in terms of statistical precision and as the result of a reasonably uniform sampling of the actual globe. The UAH is what it is, is fairly precisely known, and is at least expected to be monotonically related to a “true average surface Global Temperature”. It is therefore good for determining actual trends in global temperature, not so good for making pronouncements about whether or not the temperature now is or is not the warmest that it has been in the Holocene.

The New Nostradamus of the North: Mauritius will celebrate Earth Hour in grand style - key landmarks will light up!

We are told that preparations for the 2012 Earth Hour celebration in Mauritius are going full steam ahead. This year the Mauritians have decided to celebrate "the largest environmental event in history" in a truly grand way: The official Earth Hour website informs us that the main historical street in the beautiful town of Curepipe and key landmarks will light up at night!

If you had ever tried to get a grant from a government agency you would know that “manipulation” is very difficult. You’re trying for a limited pot of money that many other scientists are seeking, so they will reject any effort with bias, propaganda or even good ideas without prior publication and support. It is an excellent process of seeking “truth”.
