February, 1934 was very warm across much of the planet, with temperatures in Siberia averaging as much as 27F above normal. Experts now tell us that 15F above normal is impossible without global warming, because they have no idea what they are talking about – and they have gotten used to making scary stories up and getting lots of publicity.
According to Phil’s new data set, January 1880 was more than 15 degrees F above normal in Chicago, and more than eight degrees F above normal in the entire eastern half of the US. That makes it the most anomalously warm month on record in much of the country.

Temperatures varied by a huge amount from year to year. 1946 was the warmest March on record and 1947 was one of the coldest. The standard deviation prior to 1950 was 5.1, and since 1950 has been 4.1.
