INSTAVISION: I talk with Robert Zubrin about his new book, Merchants of Despair: Radical Environmentalists, Criminal Pseudo-Scientists, and the Fatal Cult of Antihumanism. Bob's written a number of influential books, but I think this one is really going to make a splash. I like the way he calls out the greens on their "eliminationist rhetoric."

This interview contains two comments which tickle my irony detector.
Mr Zubrin blames the EPA for the deaths of millions of people by malaria due to their ban on DDT. He also tells Americans hey should vote for Newt Gingrich because Gingrich wants to disband the EPA.
Years ago I went to see Mr Zubrin speak at a local university about his plan for a manned mission to Mars. An audience member asked how he planned to reduce the amount of waste propellants and contamination that the craft would create on the Mars surface. I distinctly recall Mr Zubrin responding quite succinctly: "There is no EPA on Mars."
As the interviewer notes "the problems change but the solution always seems the same".
