Poland May Block Brussels' Green Lobby
The European Union should avoid “spoiling” its carbon market with measures to bolster emission prices by withholding permits or changing the bloc’s pollution caps, according to Poland’s Environment Minister Marcin Korolec.
Rising Sea Levels Threaten South Pacific Nation Of Kiribati
Residents of the low-lying archipelago may soon be uprooted as global sea levels — which the United Nations says could rise up to 5 feet by 2100 due to climate change— threaten to inundate the group of islands.
A Department of Energy-funded solar company that laid off 280 workers last week quietly imposed a mandatory, temporary cessation of its operations during the holidays, and warned employees to “not let the rumor mill create false purposes for this shut down.” And in another sign of potential financial troubles, a company document that is supposed to guide “the next great solar company” advises leadership to “stretch payables” to help attain its goals.
Gillis claim: 'Through no choice of Dr. Mann's, the [Hockey Stick] graph became a symbol of modern climate science when it was featured prominently in a 2001 report by a UN panel' -- Reality Check: 'Mann was in fact actively involved in promoting his own graph to be featured by IPCC in its 2001 report. and that Gillis' statement is flat out wrong...When the media places scientists up on a pedestal and of untruths, they simply set the stage for a bigger fall'

They used a computer model and data from the IPCC. What could possibly go wrong?

In relation to the Kiribati story - the IPCC did not project 5 feet of sea level rise. That claim came from the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Project. The IPCC projection was 18-59cm, and it further indicated that sea level rise would mostly occur at temperature latitudes and not near the Equator. Analysis of sea level trends for Kiribati indicate the rates of rise there are much less than the global average.
