Meat processor slams carbon tax

A Queensland meat processor says its most efficient abattoirs will be hardest hit by the Federal Government's carbon tax.

Teys Brothers says it's hoping for government funding to help the company reduce carbon emissions.

It turns out, however, that the EPA never intended to slow its push for more ethanol production; in fact, it is required by law to increase ethanol use.  The ethanol industry didn't need subsidies because it had something more valuable: legislation known as the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) that creates a guaranteed marketplace for ethanol.
