Bracing for tough climate talks

With the climate situation seemingly deteriorating, the talks resuming in Bonn today after the Durban meeting last December will be closely monitored by the world public. The world's future may depend on it.

The author, Martin Khor (Country of residence: Switzerland), is one of the two Coordinating Lead Authors of Working Group III, Assessment Report 5, Chapter Teams (WGIII AR5, Chapter 3. "Social, Economic and Ethical Concepts and Methods").

He writes (my emphases):

"The world’s future may depend on it [the talks in Bonn].

There have been heavy rainfall causing serious floods, for example, in Pakistan and Thailand, frequent damaging storms in the Philippines and Central and South America, and drought in parts of Africa.

Hans von Storch said recently to the BBC:

"It seems that the extreme position on both sides are losing ground, and that is good."

I don't see that.
