Climate 'sceptic' secretly believes

Climate change can be a little hard to grasp. It's a long-term trend and some of its symptoms may seem counter-intuitive: for example, it creates temperature volatility (hot and cold spells), heavy rainfall and storms. It's not just about droughts and a steady rise in heat.

But complexity is no excuse for treating readers like idiots.

PM brushes aside carbon tax claims

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has brushed aside claims from a regional airline that it was forced to axe routes because of Labor's carbon tax.

...Ms Gillard responded by saying Transport Minister Anthony Albanese had advised her another airline - Rex - would take over the routes and the carbon tax did not start until July 1.She then attacked Mr Abbott for creating a fear campaign about the carbon tax.

The prime minister said the impact of the carbon tax would result in a "few dollars per flight" and that impact had been factored into the extra assistance offered to families.
