Slippery when wet – Tim Flannery’s climate warnings questioned after recent flooding « An Honest Climate Debate

FIVE years ago, Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery predicted that the nation’s dams would never be full again and major Australian cities would need desalination plants to cater for our water needs.

Yesterday, in his latest report, he said “climate change cannot be ruled out” as a factor in recent flooding rains, which led to some of those dams overflowing.

The apparent contradiction accompanies predictions that heatwaves, made worse by concrete, asphalt and buildings, will cause deaths and violence in western Sydney.

Highly Recommended Book on Climate Change « Reasonable Doubt on Climate Change

This little book is a great read. By taking a longer term view of climate – and relating it to cycles in ordinary human lives (annual, daily, seasonal) you get a much better perspective on what’s going on. Most reasonable people will read this book and come away very skeptical of anthropogenic global warming. There are many inconvenient truths in here many in the climate science establishment would find rather uncomfortable. The author has a very informative blog you can read here.

The Inconvenient Skeptic » Climate Change Conference

I will be attending the upcoming conference in Chicago this week.  I will be providing updates on things that I find interesting over the next few days.  Having never attended anything like this before I am not sure what to expect, but I hope that I will be able to spark some interesting discussions there.

A relevant quote of what I expect to find is “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”  To me it seems that the same arguments are repeated over and over again with the expectation that pointing out UHI flaws is going to win the debate.  The key as I see it is to understand the climate as a whole.  That is what is missing and the reason I wrote the book and have this website is to change the nature of the debate.  Wish me luck.
