Rio another international talkfest: Abbott | News | Business Spectator

"The prime minister should finally admit that Australia's carbon tax is an international orphan," he told reporters in Canberra.

"I think the prime minster should be waking up to herself and waking up to the fact that the rest of the world is not taking decisive action by way of carbon taxes or emission trading schemes."

He said implementing a carbon tax in Australia is the last thing the country needed at a time when the international economic situation was very fragile.

But Mr Abbott thought it was appropriate for the prime minister to travel to major international conferences, as long as she learned the "right lessons".
