Kees van der Leun @Sustainable2050 @ret_ward That's not misleading. They precisely state that they compare Sept. 2011 with the 1979 maximum, make many other comparisons too.

In 1979, at its lowest point, there were 16,855 cubic kilometres of Arctic sea ice. In 2011 that had dropped to 4,017 - a little over a quarter of that original figure.
