The Maldives will seek to fund its plan to become carbon-neutral with voluntary donations from visitors, shunning a proposal for an emissions tax on tourists,
President Mohamed Waheed said....“We are careful not to put too many taxes on our tourists,” Waheed said in an interview in Rio de Janeiro, where he’s attending the United Nations Rio+20 summit on sustainability. “What we are now planning to do is set up an environment fund where tourists can commit funds. It will be voluntary contributions to begin with.”

The conference’s green agenda has become so politically radioactive, that even Pres. Obama and extreme environmental groups are trying to avoid been associated with it, Inhofe said:
“President Obama is avoiding it like the plague, and his allies in Congress haven't made a single speech on the conference. Far left environmental groups have done their best to stay under the radar..."
