New IPCC statement out today: Remember when we claimed for years that we only used peer-reviewed scientific literature? Never mind

Twitter / Revkin: An @IPCCCH challenge to @
An challenge to article on panel's policies on gray lit & geography: I think panel has it right.
From the IPCC statement here (PDF), dated June 24, 2012:
The IPCC has always recognized that non-peer reviewed literature, such as reports from governments and industry, or national statistics, can be crucial for the IPCC’s assessments. The appropriate use of such literature expands the breadth and depth of the assessment by including relevant information.
Flashback:  The 2007 IPCC report falls well short of its advertising

"People can have confidence in
the IPCC's conclusions…Given that it is all
on the basis of peer-reviewed
literature."
- Rajendra Pachauri, IPCC chairman, June 2008

"The IPCC doesn't do any research itself. We only develop our assessments on the basis of
peer-reviewed literature."

- Rajendra Pachauri, IPCC chairman, June 2007
