But Minnesota apple growers aren’t alone. Apple growers in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley near Missoula were especially hard hit by the cold snap, which struck when the trees were in full bloom. A Corvallis apple grower reports a 90 percent loss while a Mountain View Orchards operator claims a 60 percent loss.
