Record breaking heat overtime shows clear climate change : Newsradio WKOK 1070
Mann says we are seeing the major ice sheets, inGreenlandand the Antarctic, already losing ice. “Our models predicted that that shouldn’t happen for decades, but it is already happening. What that means is that is contributing to sea level rise at a rate beyond what we originally projected. If we continue, we could be looking at two meters of sea level rise by the end of the century.”
So what about snow? “In the middle of winter, it is still going to be cold enough to snow,” says Mann, “but it turns out that when the air is warmer it can hold more water vapor, so you actually get larger snowfall. It’s consistent with what the climate change models project.”
