Greenland Ice Shelf Faces Another Big Hit | French Tribune
Global warming has started showing its terrible side...
He added that the air temperature now in northern Greenland and Ellesmere Island are warmer than the earlier records. A difference of almost. 10 degrees Celsius is being noticed every year since 1987.

[Richard Houghton] I continue to be ‘shocked’ by the fact that the global warming we have seen so far has not changed the way the global carbon cycle works. Carbon dioxide is still being taken up by land (terrestrial ecosystems) and the oceans in proportion to the emissions of carbon dioxide from human activity. That means that as the emissions have increased, so has the uptake of carbon by land and ocean. That’s great news (and surprising) because it means that nature has been acting to reduce the rate of climatic change. If the land or oceans were taking up less carbon dioxide, more would remain in the atmosphere, and climate would be changing faster. I will continue to be ‘shocked’ until the uptake of carbon by land and ocean start to decline. That’s what I would expect to happen, and it’s only a matter of time. When it does happen, it may be very difficult to manage the global carbon cycle and, thus, to ‘manage’ climate.
Is the introduction of a carbon tax a 'teachable moment' to change habits?
A fundamental question for the federal government as it strives to realise its carbon targets through both business and individual behaviour is whether the introduction of the carbon tax can cause sufficient reflection on behaviour to change habits.
A healthy climate change battle | Climate Spectator
It is difficult for the medical profession with long demanding hours to find the additional motivation to lobby, teach and act on health and climate change, yet some do, and those doctors reading this column should join us, Doctors for the Environment Australia in collective action, for our role has been to provide advocacy and education that should be the role of the professional organisations.
