The idea, Winton said, is to project the impact on the region as a result of climate change and give resource managers information they can use to make educated decisions based on what they're likely to see.

A KEY part of the rationale for Julia Gillard's carbon tax plan was to provide certainty for industries, particularly those in the business of generating electricity or investing in power capacity. “We’ve been working on behalf of a network of about 100 political donors who maxed out to the Obama campaign in 2008, and only about 25 percent have maxed out this election cycle,” Taylor said. “The whole focus has been on elevating the climate issue. We do feel that it’s imperative that the president respond to Mitt Romney’s mocking and that he do so forcefully with a clear statement.”
