EU carbon tax will have significant impact on air-fares: Sources - The Economic Times
NEW DELHI: The impact of carbon tax on fares of all Indian flights to and from Europe would be "quite significant" if it is imposed by the EU, official sources said today.

India has joined the US, Russia, China and several other major nations in opposing the EU's Emissions Trading Scheme (EU-ETS) which requires the carriers flying to or from Europe to pay for emitting carbon in European skies.
Japan to put new [voluntary] global warming scheme into full swing
BANGKOK (Kyodo) -- The Japanese government plans to put into full swing in fiscal 2013 a new mechanism to tackle global warming, under which Japan will receive emission rights from developing countries in exchange for providing them with energy-saving technologies, government officials said Saturday...

Although Japan will not commit to the second phase of the Kyoto Protocol starting in 2013, it has pledged to address global warming on a voluntary basis.

Bangkok, Thailand, August 31, 2012. Climate change will cripple the ASEAN goal of economic integration by 2015. The warning was issued today by ASEAN for a Fair, Ambitious and Binding Climate Deal (A-FAB), a regional coalition led by Greenpeace Southeast Asia and Oxfam, during a press conference at the UN climate change talks in Bangkok.

A-FAB is calling on leaders of Southeast Asian nations to champion the fight to save the climate and infuse much-needed urgency into the ongoing talks.
