A climate education initiative based at the University of San Diego has won a five-year National Science Foundation grant of nearly $5 million, the school announced Tuesday.HP emerging as model of green development: Pachauri | Business Standard
The foundation issued similar awards to six recipients nationwide as part of its Climate Change Education Partnership program.
Releasing the book titled 'The Real Action-Green Growth Development Story of Himachal Pradesh,' Pachauri, director general of TERI, offered multi-sectoral scientific cooperation for carbon-smart growth in the hills.
Addressing policy makers, top government officials and scientists on 'Green Economy,' he cautioned against the fallout of climate change and said it was a matter of concern that this was taking place faster than expected.
Pachauri, who also heads the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said, "As per reports the global temperature is going to rise between 1.1 to 6.4 deg C by the turn of the century and there is incontrovertible evidence about impact of global warming on climate."
