Gibraltar Chronicle - Thinking Green: Gore applauds Gibraltar as ‘an example to the world’
Flying into Gibraltar on a British Airways flight, Al Gore was ready to answer any questions regarding his usage of private jets, his answer - he offsets his entire carbon footprint each year.
...
During his presentation Mr Gore showed pictures where ‘Mother Earth’ has been hit hardest informing that this year Kuwait had record temperatures of 53.6degrees Celsius and that extreme hot temperature covers 10% of the earth, a figure than used to be 0.1%.
He believes that there is a strong linkage between the climate crisis and extreme weather, stating that as temperature increases the oceans increases their precipitation and that a 1% increase in temperature increased water vapour by 7%.
Mr Gore said: “The climate crisis is the most prominent symbol of the difference in relationship between humanity and earth,” and informed the audience that over 740 million people were affected by drought this year alone.
