1. The unerring buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is bound to come with regrets. Is Climate Change Responsible For Hurricane Sandy? : The New Yorker
2. Many parts of the planet, from sub-Saharan Africa to the northeastern United States, are subject to extreme storms, superdroughts or other climate-related disruptions with or without a push from greenhouse gases. Greenhouse heating will worsen some extremes [Would it lessen any extremes such as crop-killing frost or people-killing harsh winters? If it lessens the temperature differential between the poles and the equator, could it cause less intense tornadoes and/or hurricanes?] and is almost assuredly contributing to some (but not all) now.
3. Limiting harm from inevitable hard knocks that come with such disruptions is job one on a crowding, busy planet.
More super-storms, more heat waves, more multi-billion-dollar “weather-related loss events”? The one thing that can be said is that, whether or not our elected officials choose to acknowledge the obvious, we can expect, “with a high degree of confidence,” that all of these are coming. [Aren't all of these coming even if humans stop using all forms of energy right now?]Twitter / ClimateDesk: Cuomo: "We have a 100 year ...
Cuomo: "We have a 100 year flood every couple of years. If anyone denies the weather pattern is extreme, they're missing something." #SandyYou think Sandy’s bad? Saturn had a storm that was bigger than Earth | Grist
This storm was as tall as North America and long enough to wrap several times around the Earth, and it raised the temperature in one part of the atmosphere by more than 150 degrees F. [I just unplugged my iPhone charger; let me know if it stops.]
