The North Sea Floods Of 1953
While the consequences of Storm Sandy are still fresh in our minds, it is worth remembering the North Sea floods of 1953, which left 2420 dead, most of whom were drowned.

The Royal Society has described the events of 31st January that year as “the worst natural disaster to befall Britain during the twentieth century”.
