Abbott's 'realist approach to climate change' | Climate Spectator
this is a man with an unusually strong grasp of what narratives work with voters.Japan Meterological Agency Show Global Temperature .25C Colder Than NASA/MET/NOAA « sunshine hours
This explains the mockery of a carbon price. Aware of strong concerns about rising electricity prices, Abbott readily embraces the scepticism of ordinary voters about counter-intuitive economic mechanisms. How can increasing the price of anything possibly be good? How can paying more for electricity stop climate change? Surely it’s the sort of ridiculous, theoretical rubbish out-of-touch intellectuals come up with because they don’t live in the real world.

The trouble with that claim is that Japan’s line on the graph shows a sudden .25C downward divergence after 2000.
On the issue of whether human activity is leading to warming of the atmosphere [Maurice Newman] wrote in The Australian on November 5 last year:
“When Mother Nature decided in 1980 to change gears from cooler to warmer, a new global warming religion was born, replete with its own church (the UN), a papacy, (the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), and a global warming priesthood masquerading as climate scientists.”
He then elaborated that:
“Regrettably for the global warming religion, its predictions have started to appear shaky, and the converts, many of whom have lost their jobs and much of their wealth, are losing faith. Worse, heretic scientists have been giving the lie to many of the prophecies described in the IPCC bible. They could not be silenced.”
