Build snowmen to fight flooding, says Environment Agency | The Sun |News
HOMEOWNERS could protect themselves from expected flooding next week by building SNOWMEN, the Environment Agency has said.
The bizarre advice comes as weather experts predict a sudden thaw combined with torrential rain and a temperature swing from minus 13C to 13C.
Environment Agency chiefs say Brits could help slow the rate of melting snow by building snowmen in their gardens and on driveways.
Spokesman Roy Stokes said the compacted snow and ice will melt slower meaning there is less surface water come the time of a thaw.
He said: “Ideally if everybody built themselves a snowman that will slow the thaw down a bit..."
