The Reference Frame: What did the winters look like before global warming?
To see some dramatic snowy pictures from Russia, see Alexander Ač's blog. Today, he thinks that wintry winters are caused by global warming. When the chill and snow is gone, I guess that global warming will be causing warmer winters again.

Snow traps hundreds overnight on Alabama highway
A rare winter storm dumped up to a foot of snow around the Southeast on Thursday and Friday, left thousands without power, and played a role in at least one death.

In central Alabama, hundreds of people spent a cold night trapped on Interstate 65 in Cullman County after snow caused a series of wrecks that snarled traffic for miles.

The previous warm periods (Medieval, Roman and Minoan) likely had the same natural origin as the present one. Hence, we should expect a century of cooling that essentially reverses the warming of the 20th century. This is what the Greenland ice core temperature reconstructions show happened previously.
