BBC News - Firms count damage done by March cold weather
the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) said the March freeze cost the UK's small businesses £174m.

It said more than half of small firms admitted that cold weather damaged demand and closed businesses.

On March 29, Alex Epstein’s talk, “Fossil Fuels Improve the Planet,” at Vassar College was interrupted by a student reading a prepared statement which denounced the consumption of fossil fuels as entailing, among other things, “intimidation.” The incident followed a week during which posters for the talk were ripped down, the home of the talk’s organizer was vandalized, and a threat was made by one student to disrupt the talk by physically harming himself.

Union Station recently started getting all of its electricity from wind power, and will do so for the next three years, its power supplier said yesterday. The historic train depot signed a contract with Herndon, Va.-based Washington Gas Energy Services that will see it purchase renewable energy credits from a network of wind farms in order to offset its annual energy consumption.

Duluth ties record low temperature for April 14
The Duluth airport recorded a low of 8 degrees above zero, tying the record first set in 1926. That’s 21 degrees below normal for April 14.

It was even colder to the north, where weather spotters in Embarrass and Brimson reported morning lows of 2 below zero.
