Sanford will have to stand for reelection again next year. Will he be intimidated by the Tea Party and the ideological militancy of the Republican Party, and flip-flop on climate change?

...These are just three current examples of how the influence of environmental organizations is driving policy in the name of planetary salvation that is, in reality, resulting in economic devastation that could lead to humanity’s ultimate starvation. Airlines also need to wise up. The industry must realise that its mounting contribution to global warming poses a grave danger to its own commercial future no matter how much everyone likes to fly. Indeed, a recent scientific study published in Nature found that climate change will significantly increase turbulence in transatlantic flights, with similar problems likely in other key areas.

As my chart below shows, climate pollution per passenger on long-distance jet travel overwhelms the climate-safe "budget" remaining for each of us. A few weeks of novelty aren't worth inflicting so many tonnes of climate damage on the things I care about.
