The first of May brought a dusting of snow in Winnipeg following one of coldest Aprils on record.

April 2013 was the coldest one we’ve had in more than a hundred years. The last time April was that cold was in 1907, according to Environment Canada.

May snowstorm wallops Rockies, north-central USA

Minneapolis could pick up as much as 5 inches of snow, which would be the biggest May snowstorm in the city's history, according to the weather service. Records go back to 1885 in Minneapolis.

If snow falls as forecast in Nebraska, it would be the first measurable May snowfall in 46 years in Omaha and Lincoln, the weather service reports.
