WASHINGTON -- Former Vice President Al Gore made a rare appearance on Capitol Hill on Tuesday to support the man who's become the new face of climate action in Washington.

"Sheldon Whitehouse has become the leading United States advocate for solving the climate, and you ought to be very proud," he told an audience of Rhode Island environmental leaders.
