Understanding Why NOAA Adjusts Older Temperatures Downwards | Real Science
Over the last 100 years, America has added huge amounts of pavement and buildings which keep nighttime temperatures up several degrees.

Despite our best efforts to create warming, temperatures have remained flat – which is no use for fundraising. So we progressively reduce older temperatures, in order to compensate for the fact that they are no use politically until we do.
THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: New paper finds that aging weather stations record much higher daytime temperatures, 1.63°C higher than new stations
A paper published today in the International Journal of Climatology finds that aging of the solar radiation screens on weather stations is causing a large positive bias in measured temperatures of 1.63°C, which by way of comparison is more than twice the global warming of 0.7°C recorded since the end of the Little Ice Age in 1850.
THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: Analysis finds the frequency and intensity of tropical cyclones decrease with warming
...The entire 20th century had but one such intense cyclone (and that was in its early stages in 1911), while there were as many as seven intense tropical cyclones during the global chill that prevailed between AD 1600 and 1800.
