And Richard Betts knew this before he gave his "Shout Out", because I asked him about it yesterday, when he "presumed" (incorrectly it would appear) that CheekyClimate would have addressed my concerns.

Sadly, this DOES demonstrate the warmist attitude - if you don't agree with us, there is no reason that laws should protect you at all. Sort of like "Dubya's" statement of if you aren't with us, you are against us, but worse since you are the scum of the Earth and deserve nothing to start with, and nothing at all, life included, when we get done with you. No belief set, save a religious one, ever takes such a black and white stand.

This is essentially saying: "The final solution to Climate Change is to cleanse the non-believers".

Hi,

I should point out that I don't endorse this joke, which is in poor taste. I (rather childishly, I admit!) tweeted about @cheekyclimate's facebook page because Hilary seemed to me to be hinting that it was something to do with the Met Office (which it isn't). On reflection, maybe I shouldn't have done that! Sorry for any offence.

I am supportive of debate across the wide spectrum of opinion in climate change, and moreover, my house is heated by oil so I hope my kids don't get inspired by this photo.... :-)

Cheers

You guys are total idiots. Do you have any idea what a meme is? It's a silly photo with a silly caption that's like a one liner joke. Teenagers make these for laughs.

If you're calling a meme propaganda then what do you call what you're doing on this website?

In fact, calling a meme propaganda is a form of propaganda itself. Attempting to create a false impression of people in support of reducing carbon emissions. And if you believe the guy who wrote this article then you really need to rethink who you're trusting when you look for information.

Seriously, do you even care what the truth is or do you just enjoy arguing?

Anonymous: "A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena." From Wikipedia.

That photograph is not a joke, it's a meme, you're right about that, not propaganda. The cultural idea being burning fossil fuels is an activity worth of death. And yes there are greens who wholeheartedly agree with that.

Now just imagine the uproar if the title said something that could be considered racial or anti-homosexual.

Who would be calling it a harmless meme then?

One reader said that we are idiots because we're making a fuss about what is just a joke. The "it's just a joke" excuse is so lame. What if someone had put together a picture of the White House, and the same kid standing in front of it with a burning cross, with the caption reading, "Obama hates the cross, so I burned one on his lawn." That would certainly get flagged by the Secret Service because IT'S NOT FUNNY.
