At least three people have died as a result of heavy snowfall in Peru and Bolivia, the worst in a decade, officials say.

Two Peruvians died in the southern province of Carabaya. One of the victims was a 75-year-old man killed when his roof caved in under the weight of snow accumulated above, local officials said.

Bolivia also reported another snow-related death, bringing to eight the number of people who have lost their lives due to a cold weather system over South America.
