Eric Holhaus on skeptics: "crowd is like 1980s military uniform-type people"

Meet Eric Holthaus, the Rebel Nerd of Meteorology | Culture | Rolling Stone

"He covers everything from super typhoons in Hong Kong to walking conditions in Atlanta, tying it all back to the warming planet – which is something many of his colleagues refuse to do. Amazingly, according to one study, nearly half of all US meteorologists don't believe that humans are the cause of climate change. Holthaus has met this contingent at conferences. "The crowd is like 1980s military uniform-type people," he says. "They're prominently conservative Republicans in positions of power, and they want to push the message they believe, politically.""

I wish Republicans were conservative.

Holhaus's categorizing tells more about him than about those he categorizes. I, for example, think that ALL meteorologists--whatever their opinion on the idea of anthroogenic global warming--are excessively passionate about the weather ("we're going to be at or near the record AGAIN--ay-yi-yi!") and so could be called gung-ho (...like military uniform-type people...but why the 1980s per se?... methinks Holhaus has issues with the '80s).

Passion, becoming obsession, is the problem you see. The alarmists are obsessed--or, as I put it, insane (they are avoiding the reality of quite normal variations in weather and climate, and demanding draconian, tyrannical "solutions" to a nonexistent problem).

Wow, more projection from a climate obsessed kook.

What, exactly, is "rebel nerd" Holthaus rebelling against?
