This whole Elvis IBWO sighting episode has one fascinating result.
We can now see those birders and/or ornithologists who have the correct "feel" for how to approach the world of investigation and proof as opposed to those who are merely posers.
Sibley and Jackson are liable to be untouchable giants in the field in years to come. They will be the oracles of birding. All must bow down before them.
Well, they deserve it. They spoke truth to power.
What I want to know is this. What did these very important people do before Elvis reappeared?
Did they have real bird conservation or science to do? Have they suspended everything to risk their mighty reputations on this. Or is the other bird work being done by mere "bird" mortals, graduate students, etc?
