So....... my paper about Ivory-billed Woodpeckers was accepted by BMC Biology, and I expect it to be published online in the next few days (Open Access online - I'll post the website as and when). Those of you who know me will know roughly the message what's in it. It's kinda daunting with all the media interest surrounding the issue, that I'm starting to regret already sticking my head above the parapet in such a public and permanent way. Still, the truth will out - hold your nose and here goes.UPDATE: Some background on Collinson is available in this BirdForum post.

For the last day, I kept reading this headline as "Collision IBWO paper accepted by BMC Biology".
Did they find the IBWO that the canoe hit? Did Bobby drive his car into a roost of Ivory-bills and kill one? Did all those fleeting flying IBWOs finally collide in midair and thump to the ground at Mary Scott's feet?
If this is an article that exposes the enormous weakness of the IBWO data, how long will it be before the TBs accuse Collinson of:
- Incompetence
- Jealousy
- Grandstanding for personal gain
- Not being qualified to author a paper on the weakness of the IBWO case cause he's never seen one
