I'm glad now that everyone seems to agree that nothing can be conclusively drawn from the Luneau video, because that was really the point of the paper.
Collinson thinks HE's the one that debunked the video? Sorry, but this bog did that shortly after the video was first published.
Amy's defense of science and attack on the rubes reminds me how much we miss her here.
I hope someone can rediscover that liar pd and make him pay up. Imagine the outrage if a skeptic had reneged like this. At least the other TBs like the CLO crowd had the sense to chicken out before placing a bet even they knew they would surely lose.

I don't think that's really the case. I think he believes that his paper, along with yet another year of fruitless searching, has finally broken the camel's back of the TBs. They still believe, but there are fewer and fewer calling the Luneau video positive proof.

Indeed. And I'm sure now we'll be hearing about nobody has ever demonstrated that PIWOs exhibit such flap rates when flying away from that kind of tree in response to a slow moving canoe from 50 yards away under the precise temperature and humidity conditions that were recorded on the day of the Cornell video. Etc., etc. And then we complain that such demands are ridiculous and those who are making them are disingenuous, the double-knocks and kent calls will be invoked again. Dust will fill the air and while everyone chokes, the TBs will make their hasty exit until the bell signals the start of Round 23. The TBs are shameless.

Word. And it was also quickly recognized exactly how the TB's shell game would be played: by continually moving the goalpost to this or that other "observation" which "skeptics" allegedly need to explain before the outrageous living IBWO "explanation" could be "ruled out." This is how time and money is wasted.
