Australia: Polls show public's carbon offset skepticism

On the eve of World Environment Day, new Australian data shows that most people still doubt whether carbon offsetting can actually assist in the fight against global warming.

In an online survey of about 1000 people, Sustainable Communities and Environment data shows a rising 81% of Australians consider themselves to be fairly, very or extremely green.

The data also shows that of those surveyed, just one in five believed recycling more was a way to reduce carbon emissions. Only five in one hundred believed the use of green power would help combat climate change.
