Revkin evidently sees promoting CO2 hysteria as a "public service"

Revkin: Science Coverage Imploding at CNN, Beyond - Dot Earth Blog - NYTimes.com
Just in case you think this is a new trend, consider this flashback to the 1980’s, which shows how the public-service aspect of journalism — sustaining coverage of important arenas even if it does not “sell” — is a hard fit in a world focused on the bottom line...

Tom,

Presumably you can see that I'm talking about the "public service" being coverage of science and technology overall, not coverage (whether good or bad) of humans and climate.

I can't imagine you'd be opposed to coverage of, say, scientific searches for new natural gas deposits, or of advances in fusion technology or the like? That's going by the boards, as well.
