Brutal Cold in the IPCC Models versus Nature « Roy Spencer, Ph. D.
...What does all this mean for the theory of manmade global warming? How fast have these coldest airmasses warmed, compared to the IPCC models? Well, the location in Siberia that is traditionally the coldest, Ojmjakon, hit -60 deg. C (-76 deg. F) twice last month (December, 2008), a temperature that has been reached only one other time in the last 25 years. So, I suspect that global warming isn’t happening nearly fast enough for the folks who live there.
Nearly 800 schools of Kyrgyzstan on 2-month vacation because of electricity deficit
BISHKEK, January 9 (Itar-Tass) -- Nearly 800 schools of Kyrgyzstan will have a two-month vacation because of the ongoing electric power crisis, a source at the Kyrgyz Education and Science Ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday.

He said that would apply only to schools heated with electricity. Such schools will have classes until the middle of June. The rest of Kyrgyz schools will resume classes as usual. It was planned initially to extend the vacation at 1,300 schools, but many of them managed to switch to alternative fuel.

The energy crisis in Kyrgyzstan occurred last spring because of insufficient water reserves in the Toktogul dam lake. The Toktogul hydropower plant supplies up to 40% of all electricity in Kyrgyzstan.
