Fairbanks: Cold weather forced organizers to cancel sled dog race
This is, after all, Alaska, and this winter brought with it a particularly nasty cold snap--temperatures never rose above 20 below for 16 straight days from Dec. 27 to Jan. 11, and at times dipped to minus 50.

The race was initially set to be the second in a five-race series, but later bumped up to the first, chronologically, after cold weather forced organizers to cancel the first race outright.
