2. Munich Re was blamed for linking loss of life from disasters to climate change.
Our perspective: We have not done so – neither in our press release nor at any time before. We annually publish death tolls from natural disasters as part of a standardised information pattern. We never looked for a climate signal in death tolls and are glad to note that improved warning efficiency and adaptation to hazards in some parts of the world have reduced annual death tolls substantially, for instance deaths associated with US tornados. All the diagrams shown in Roger’s discussion of this topic simply serve to preach to the converted.

The Reference Frame: Obama okays coal industry
The anti-fossil-fuels environmentalists who want coal and oil to be replaced by solar energy don't realize one important thing. Coal is solar energy, too. It is a solar energy that has been conveniently packaged by the Earth's geological processes much like meat is nothing else than nice plants that have been packaged by metabolism (Rajendra Pachauri should listen to both parts of the sentence!).
