Co2 is a Top Threat to National Security, Says New Head of US "Intelligence" : TreeHugger
As Obama gets ready to send thousands more troops to Afghanistan, the new head of US intelligence warns that another severe threat to national security is on the rise. And it's a threat that could potentially be more dangerous even than terrorism—one that could cause mass migrations, incite civil wars, and endanger the lives of hundreds of millions around the world. And the new enemy in the US military's cross hairs?

Climate change.

Dennis Blair, the new Director of National Intelligence, issued a warning that many poorer, more weakly governed nations will also be subject to the worst impacts of climate change: extreme flooding and hazardous dry spells.

Harper’s staff emphasized in the run-up to the visit that the two men are close in age and both have young families. The point seemed a bit forced. So I can only guess that the PMO enjoyed a frisson of excitement when Obama indeed alluded to their kids in a comment on combating global warming.

“My hope,” he said, “is that we emerge from this process firmly committed to dealing with an issue that ultimately the Prime Minister’s children and my children are going to have to live with for many years.”
If Obama doesn't want his kids exposed to warm weather, why does he keep flying them to Hawaii?
A year ago, the Obamas were too busy campaigning before the Iowa caucuses in early January to take their annual Hawaiian vacation. Michelle Obama told the Tribune then that one of her two daughters cried when told the news that they would be spending the holidays in Des Moines rather than Hawaii.
