New headline on Steigerwald's piece: "A nation immune to warming hysteria" - The Phoenix Opinion: Serving Phoenixville, PA
[Bill Steigerwald]  ...But they do prove that many of our fellow Americans still have the right genetic stuff that made our country so great. They can still recognize a load of you-know-what when it's dropped on their heads every day by their government and the liberal media.
Happening now: Alarmist Dessler holding forth on live "science" chat
[Comment From Dr. J]
For Dr. D and Dr. n-g to answer: What one political policy action would make the biggest difference in cooling our climate back to the more alleged ideal state of say 1850 (before human CO2 allegedly changed it), and how long will it take for that action to produce the required cooling?

Andrew Dessler: I think the goal should be to stabilize the climate, rather than cool the climate back to some pre-existing level. To stabilize the climate, most experts agree on a few things we should probably do: 1) put a price on carbon emissions through a cap-and-trade or carbon tax, 2) emphasize energy efficiency. Other regulations, such as increasing fuel economy standards for our car fleet, are broadly discussed.

Andrew Dessler: TimB: I think that many of the most dire warnings do not come from the scientific community.

12:51 John N-G: TimB - Those making the most noise and the most extreme predictions seem to get most of the attention. Public policy ought to be based largely on mainstream science. I don’t like it when Al Gore presents things in an extreme manner (although on the whole it does seem to have worked).
