Like many public policy makers, he seems to think he won't be held accountable when he damages the American economy.
I say we bet him double or nothing. If he turns out to be right about global warming, we'll pay him twice his salary. If he's wrong, he has to pay his entire salary back.
That'll make him read the research evidence.

Lin also called for research into the possibility of insuring poor, oil-consuming countries against price shocks and argued that action was called for to create a price mechanism to prevent a potential climate change “tipping point”.
"[Carbon legislation] will all be gently, gently until we get dramatic climate events to jolt us out of our complacency," he said, adding that in a perverse way the world needs "four Katrinas in a year" or for a city like Miami to be wiped out in order to make it aware of the true scale of the climate change threat.
