London Free Press - Other Sports - IOC hands out enviro awards; Tim Ball quoted!
VANCOUVER - The Beijing Olympic organizing committee was among five continental winners of the first International Olympic Committee sport and environment awards, presented Monday at the 8th World Conference on Sport and the Environment in Vancouver.

Dr. David Suzuki, a CBC TV presenter and retired geneticist, issued a report claiming Canadian winter sport is facing catastrophe by 2050 if global warming isn’t stopped. Retired climate scientist Dr. Timothy Ball, however, said a global cooling trend since 2000 could ruin food crops and lead to heating fuel shortages across Canada sooner than mid-century.

“Governments are preparing for warming -- and it's cooling,” Ball told 24 hours. “We're going to be blindsided.”
North Dakota: Tough winter for pheasants and deer
The weather in the rest of the state has been terrible as well. Marmarth, a small hamlet in the far southwestern corner of the state received 22 inches of snow last week and blizzard conditions stretched across the entire state. Pheasant populations took another hit at a time when they didn’t need the additional stress, especially considering the storm was followed by prolonged cold weather. Deer herds are also being impacted. A fair number of dead deer have been picked up in the Williston area by Game and Fish officials. Those carcasses will be tested for disease. The losses aren’t huge, maybe ten percent or so, but I’m betting there will be fewer deer licenses this fall because of winterkill.

It’s just not good out there and turkey season is almost here. ‘Ol Man Winter is really starting to tick me off.
Extremely Odd Interview With eSolar's Bill Gross | He doesn't seem to buy into the climate scam, yet he claims that coal plants ANNUALLY kill 10,000 people LOCALLY
But [society] still can’t decide that we want clean energy, but not make some other sacrifice to get it. We’re building power plants with zero emissions or ill effects on the environment. Even if you don’t believe in global warming, there are still bad things about coal plants. I think we need some relavitism. We should make the least impact possible, and not ruin pristine wildlife. But people have ruined pristine wildlife with coal plants that kill 10,000 people in the neighborhood yearly. I think coal plants have better lobbyists.
I think Gross' claim would be far more credible if he'd name just one specific coal plant, then list the names of 10,000 people from that area who were killed by coal in 2008.
